Shanghai Bobby records second workout

Saratoga Springs, NY (Sports Network) - Eclipse Award winner Shanghai Bobby went back to the track Monday morning for his second workout since returning to training.

Trained by Todd Pletcher for owner Starlight Partners, Shanghai Bobby worked three furlongs at Saratoga Race Course in 38 seconds over a fast main track. Last Monday, the 3-year-old colt covered the distance in 38.95 seconds.

"We're easing into it," said Pletcher, "and so far, so good. He jumped right back into it and is ready to go a half next week. Obviously, he's a very talented horse and it's nice to have him back and get him ready for a fall campaign."

His last start was in the Florida Derby on March 30 when he finished fifth. He was then diagnosed with a slight pelvic stress fracture.

Shanghai Bobby won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita last November to secure the Eclipse Award as champion 2-year-old of 2012. He was undefeated in five starts last year, but winless in two starts in 2013, including a second to Itsmyluckyday in the Holy Bull Stakes.
