Tiz Miz Sue and Don't Tell Sophia meet again in Apple Blossom
Hot Springs, AR (Sports Network) - Tiz Miz Sue and Don't Tell Sophia will renew their new found rivalry Friday in Oaklawn Park's $500,000 Apple Blossom Handicap. The 1 1/16-mile stakes has drawn a field of seven fillies and mares.
The Apple Blossom will be the third straight meeting between the two mares this season at Oaklawn Park. In February, Don't Tell Sophia won the Bayakoa with Tiz Miz Sue third and the following month Tiz Miz Sue captured the Azeri Stakes with Don't Tell Sophia the runner-up.
Tiz Miz Sue, trained by Steve Hobby, will be ridden by Joe Rocco Jr. from the inside post. Owned by Cresran LLC, the 6-year-old was third in last year's Apple Blossom behind Plum Pretty.
Tiz Miz Sue has won seven of 30 career starts, with nine seconds, for $789,709.
Don't Tell Sophia has drawn post 3 with Robby Albarado in the saddle. The 5- year-old is owned and trained by Phil Sims.
The mare won her 2013 debut at Oaklawn in the Pippin Stakes and has posted wins on dirt, turf and synthetic tracks. In 13 lifetime starts she has registered six wins and $273,606.
Also getting back into the fray is She's All In for trainer Donnie Von Hemel. Owned by Robert Zoellner, the 6-year-old will be ridden by Luis Quinonez from post 5.
She's All In was second in the Bayakoa and fourth in the Azeri after beginning the year at Sam Houston Park with a fourth in the Houston Ladies Classic. The mare has banked $817,865 with 14 wins in 32 starts.
