Singapore (Sports Network) - Stacy Lewis carded a 1-under 71 on Sunday to hold on for a 1-stroke victory at the HSBC Women's Champions.

Lewis entered the final round tied for the top spot with world No. 2 Na Yeon Choi, but Choi could only manage an even-par 72 as she missed a birdie putt at the 18th which could have forced a playoff.

"I played with Na Yeon for three days and she made putt after putt after putt. I fully expected her ball to go in," said Lewis.

Lewis finished the tournament at 15-under 273 at the Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Course to capture her sixth career victory.

Following Choi was Paula Creamer (71) in third at 13-under 275 and Ariya Jutanugarn (71) in fourth at 10-under.

Candie Kung (70), Jessica Korda (71) and Danielle Kang (72) shared fifth place at minus-9, while Lexi Thompson (70) and Chella Choi (71) tied for eighth at 8-under.

The tie at the top of the leaderboard did not last long at the start of the round as Lewis' birdie coupled with Choi's bogey at the second gave Lewis a 2- stroke lead.

Creamer then made her move with consecutive birdies at the third and fourth to jump ahead of Choi and get within a stroke of Lewis before a bogey at the fifth by the leader coupled with Choi's birdie at the same hole made it a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard.

The tie was again shortlived, however, as Lewis just missed holing her second shot of the par-5 seventh and tapped in for eagle to drop to 16-under for the tournament.

"That hybrid was probably the best shot I've ever hit," Lewis said. "I held it up against the wind just perfectly."

Choi birdied the hole to stay just a shot back, but Lewis' birdie at the ninth gave her a 2-stroke advantage at the turn.

After Creamer's birdie at the 12th pulled her even with Choi for second place, Choi fell behind with a bogey at the 13th.

Lewis stumbled to bogeys at the 15th and 17th to drop her lead to just one shot over Choi entering the final hole as Creamer fell off the pace with back- to-back bogeys at the 15th and 16th.

Both Lewis and Choi then reached the green on the par-5 18th with a chance to putt for birdie, but Choi could not convert and Lewis easily 2-putted to seal the victory.

NOTES: Lewis had not finished higher than ninth in her previous three starts at this event ... Choi also finished in second place here last year. In 2012, she tied with Shanshan Feng for second ... 2012 winner Angela Stanford carded a 1-under 73 on Sunday to finish at 10-over 298 for the tournament, placing her in 56th place ... The LPGA moves to Arizona in two weeks for the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup in Phoenix, where world No. 1 Yani Tseng will defend her title.
