Blumenherst wins LPGA Tour Q-School

Daytona Beach, FL (Sports Network) - Amanda Blumenherst shot a four-under 68 on Monday to win the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, leading a list of 20 players who gained tour cards for next season.

Blumenherst, the 2008 U.S. Women's Amateur champion, finished five rounds at LPGA International with a nine-under 351. She claimed $5,000 for the win.

"Coming into the last few days I was very confident in how I was playing," said Blumenherst. "I just stayed in the fairway and got onto the greens and my putts were close. It was a winning combination."

Fourth-round leader Marianne Skarpnord (71) and Katie Kempter (68) shared second place at seven-under 353, while former LPGA winner Julieta Granada (67) ended at six-under 354.

"I don't think it has settled yet," Kempter said of earning her tour card for the first time. "I could go play another 20 holes of golf right now."

Players who finished in the top 20 earned their tour cards and Priority List Category 11 privileges. They will alternate with Nos. 81-100 on last year's money list for entry into 2010 tournaments.

Among those finishing in the top 20 on Monday were former European No. 1 Gwladys Nocera and the player Blumenherst defeated to win the '08 Women's Amateur, Azahara Munoz.

Il Hee Lee defeated Christi Cano in a playoff for the 20th and final spot in Category 11.

Players who finished in positions 21-30 at Q-school earned Category 16 status for next season, while Nos. 31-40 were placed in Category 20.

The rain-delayed tournament finished a day later than scheduled.
