NOTES
After snapping a four-year PGA Tour winless streak at last year`s Transitions Championship, Retief Goosen will be back to defend his title this week at Innisbrook. Goosen closed with a one-under 70 in the final round last year, which was good for a one-stroke victory over Charles Howell III and Brett Quigley. It marked the two-time U.S. Open champion`s first PGA Tour win since the 2005 International. Including Goosen, who is a two-time champion, all of the tournament`s past winners are scheduled to play this week. The others are Sean O`Hair, Mark Calcavecchia, Carl Pettersson, Vijay Singh, John Huston and two-time champion K.J. Choi. It marks the second time the tournament has been called the Transitions Championship. It was previously the Tampa Bay Classic from 2000-02, the Chrysler Championship from 2003-06 and the PODS Championship from 2007-08. Golf Channel will carry the tournament the first two days, with NBC broadcasting on the weekend. Next week is the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where Tiger Woods made a birdie on the final hole last year to beat O`Hair by a shot and capture the tournament for a sixth time. Woods hasn`t played an official round since winning a tournament in Australia last November.
