Hend goes low to win by 3 in Thailand
Chiangmai, Thailand (Sports Network) - Scott Hend fired an 8-under 64 on Sunday to rally and win the Chiangmai Golf Classic.
Hend finished at 20-under-par 268 to pick up his third Asian Tour title.
The Australian stumbled to a bogey on the third, but bounced back with an eagle on the par-5 fourth. Hend followed that with three consecutive birdies to move to minus-15 at Alpine Golf Resort-Chiangmai.
Hend birdied No. 9, but gave that stroke back with a bogey on the 11th. He ran off three birdies in a 4-hole span from the 13th to fly into the lead. Hend closed with his fourth birdie in four days at the 18th to seal the win.
Bryce Easton also fired a 64 to end alone in second place at minus-17.
Third-round leader Prayad Marksaeng mixed a birdie, two bogeys and a double- bogey in his front nine of 3-over 39. He carded back-to-back birdies at 14 and 15 to get back to 17-under, but stumbled to a bogey at the 16th. He closed with a 2-over 74 to take third at 16-under-par 272.
