Lahiri repeats as SAIL-SBI Open champ

New Delhi, India (Sports Network) - India's Anirban Lahiri downed countryman Rashid Khan in a playoff on Saturday to retain the SAIL-SBI Open title.

Lahiri drained a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th at the Delhi Golf Club to wrap up a final-round 68 and force a playoff with Khan, who charged into the top spot with a 66. The pair finished 72 holes at 15-under 273.

The 25-year-old Lahiri made short work of the younger Khan in the playoff, sinking a 4-foot birdie putt on the 18th to secure his third Asian Tour title, all of which have come in playoffs at the Delhi Golf Club.

"It's not sunk in," said Lahiri. "I'm still in disbelief that I made the putt in regulation and got into the playoff. After that, in the next 15 minutes, I didn't know what happened."

Khan, 22, is still seeking his maiden Asian Tour win.

"In the playoff, I just misread my third shot and hit it too far right (to 15 feet of the flag)," he said. "I wasn't too sure of the line and hit it a bit right. I was expecting Anirban to make birdie in regulation. He's won here twice before and I knew it was going to be a playoff. I was prepared for it, but it didn't work out."

Overnight leader Siddikur Rahman stumbled to a final-round 73 and ended alone in third place at 11-under, India's Shiv Kapur (70) took fourth at 10-under, and Thailand's Pawin Ingkhapradit (69) and Australian rookie Matthew Stieger (70) tied for fifth at minus-9.
