Argonauts re-sign K/P Waters, release Prefontaine
Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Argonauts re-signed kicker/punter Swayze Waters to a two-year contract on Wednesday.
In 2013, Waters got hurt in the home opener before returning later in the season to make 18 of his 25 field goal attempts.
Waters originally joined the Argos in 2012 and was part of the special teams unit that helped raise the 100th Grey Cup in Toronto. He made 32 of his 43 field goal attempts that year.
"I am extremely happy to be staying in the Argonaut family," Waters said. "The entire organization has been incredible to me and my family. The team, fans and city have made this place feel like home and I am grateful. I can't wait to put on the Double Blue and help bring another Grey Cup back to Toronto."
Prior to joining the Argos, Waters spent time in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders and Detroit Lions.
Toronto also released kicker/punter Noel Prefontaine, who spent parts of 14 seasons with Toronto. He made 15 of his 24 field goal attempts last season.
"We would like to thank Noel for his professionalism and his years of service as a member of the Toronto Argonauts," Argonauts general manager Jim Barker said.
