Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Craig Bradshaw netted a game-high 18 points to pace the Bruins as Belmont defeated the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 78-67, in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at the Curb Event Center.
J.J. Mann added 16 points and recorded three steals for Belmont (9-6, 1-0 OVC) as it ended a four-game losing slide. Blake Jenkins contributed 12 points, six assists and five rebounds while Drew Windler and Evan Bradds scored 10 points apiece.
Darion Rackley led JSU (7-10, 0-1) with 15 points. Brian Williams and Nick Cook tallied 10 points each for the Gamecocks, who has won their previous two games.
JSU took a narrow, 37-35, lead into the intermission after it shot 43.3 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. The Bruins trailed despite connecting on 15-of-22 attempts from the floor in the first half.
Belmont assisted 10 of its 15 makes from the field and drained 4-of-5 tries from behind the 3-point line to pull away in the second period. The Gamecocks could not keep up despite knocking down 48 percent of their field goal attempt after the break.
Despite the loss, JSU held a 30-25 edge in rebounds. The Bruins sank 7-of-11 tries from beyond the arc in the contest.
