Albany, NY (Sports Network) - Anthony Myles scored 20 points as the Rider
Broncs held off the Siena Saints for a 62-56 decision in the Metro Atlantic
Athletic Conference opener for both sides at the Times Union Center.
Jonathon Thompson finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, and five assists for
Rider (6-4, 1-0 MAAC), which now has won two in a row. Nurideen Lindsey
chipped in 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor in his MAAC debut.
Rakeem Brookins came off the bench for Siena (2-8, 0-1) to score a team-high
12 points after missing the past six games, but the rust was apparent as he
converted only 5-of-16 field goal attempts. O.D. Anosike registered a double-
double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Rob Poole also scored 11 points. The
Saints have now lost six consecutive games.
Siena held a narrow 16-15 edge on the scoreboard with 11:24 left before
halftime, but the Broncs closed out the half on a 17-6 run to take a 32-22
lead into the intermission. Rider scored seven points off of turnovers and 10
second chance points to help build its advantage before the break.
The Saints were unable to comeback in the second half despite making 50
percent of their field goal attempts while holding the visitors to 34.5
percent shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes.
Rider enjoyed a 42-34 advantage in the rebounding battle.
