=== Reports: Helfrich to be elevated to Oregon head coach ===
Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - Mark Helfrich will be elevated from offensive
coordinator to head coach at Oregon, according to multiple reports.
Helfrich has been the offensive coordinator for the Ducks since 2009, and this
season Oregon averaged 49.6 points per game.
The 39-year-old Helfrich would replace Chip Kelly, who left Oregon this past
week to become head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Register-Guard reports Helfrich was identified as the next coach of the
Ducks when Kelly nearly took a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in January
2012. The newspaper reports wide receivers coach Scott Frost will be promoted
to replace Helfrich as offensive coordinator.
Oregon, which made an appearance in the 2011 BCS title game under Kelly,
 finished last season at 12-1.
