University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Zach Zwinak rushed for 65 yards and three touchdowns as the Penn State Nittany Lions shut out the Kent State Golden Flashes, 34-0, in a non-conference bout at Beaver Stadium.

Zwinak led Penn State (3-1) with 15 rush attempts, while Akeel Lynch ran for 123 yards on 14 carries and Bill Belton added 90 yards on 13 carries. Christian Hackenberg completed just 13-of-35 pass attempts for 176 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

For the Golden Flashes (1-3), Colin Reardon threw for 100 yards and an interception on 12-of-28 passing. Trayion Durham rushed for 38 yards on 11 carries.

The first score didn't come until nine seconds left in the first quarter when Hackenberg hooked up with Bill Belton on a 15-yard touchdown pass to cap off a nine-play, 87-yard drive.

Another long drive in the second quarter (10 plays, 82 yards) resulted in a two-yard touchdown run by Zwinak to give the Nittany Lions a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Late in the third quarter, Zwinak found the end zone again, this time on a one-yard touchdown carry.

Early in the fourth quarter, Sam Ficken kicked a 25-yard field goal. Zwinak added another one-yard touchdown rush and Ficken knocked through a 54-yard field goal to finish off the dominating performance.

Penn State recorded 463 yards of total offense (287 rushing), while Kent State managed just 190 yards. The Golden Flashes were forced to punt the ball 10 times and were also hurt by eight penalties.
