Georgia QB Aaron Murray suffers torn ACL
Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray has a torn left ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.
Murray was hurt during the second quarter of Saturday's game against Kentucky. An MRI exam revealed the extent of the injury, which will require surgery some time next week.
The senior record-setter was upbeat on Sunday morning despite the diagnosis.
"Thank you for all the prayers over the past few hours," Murray wrote on his Twitter account. "Gonna come back stronger than ever! Dawg for life. Truly love you all #GoDawgs."
Murray started 52 games for the Bulldogs, matching David Greene's school mark for non-kickers, and is the SEC's all-time leader in numerous categories, including total offense, passing yards and touchdown passes.
In 11 games this season, Murray completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 3,075 yards with 26 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. He is the first quarterback in SEC history to reach 3,000 passing yards in four seasons.
