NCAA Game Summary - Middle Tennessee at North Carolina

Chapel Hill, NC (Sports Network) - Bryn Renner completed 23-of-34 for 339 yards and a touchdown as he helped guide the North Carolina Tar Heels to a convincing 40-20 win over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in at Kenan Stadium.
Renner, who was sacked twice and threw one interception, was credited with eight rushing attempts and scored once on the ground for the Tar Heels (1-1).
Romar Morris accounted for a team-best 46 yards rushing, leading to a pair of touchdowns on 10 carries, while Sean Tapley produced 93 yards receiving on four catches.
Jordan Parker was a top producer for the Blue Raiders (1-1) with 22 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Logan Kilgore finished 21-of-35 through the air for 211 yards, but he was sacked three times and had three attempts picked off.
UNC scored the first 23 points of the afternoon, beginning with a 26-yard touchdown run by Morris at the 6:55 mark of the first quarter, although a failed two-point conversion left the hosts with a 6-0 advantage.
Renner then called his own number to cap off a 10-play, 73-yard drive in the waning moments of the first frame, crossing the goal line from a yard out.
A one-yard TD run by Romar Morris at the 4:31 mark of the second was followed by a 39-yard field goal by Thomas Moore as time expired in the first half.
The Blue Raiders took their first possession of the second half 68 yards in nine plays, culminating with a 22-yard TD run by Parker, but still the visitors trailed by 16 points.
Thomas Moore knocked through a 35-yard field goal late in the third period after the Heels were stopped after 15 plays and 58 yards.
The Middle Tennessee defense showed signs of life in the fourth when Jared Singletary recovered a fumble and returned it 25 yards for a score, but again a two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the Blue Raiders with a 26-13 deficit with just under 13 minutes remaining in regulation.
Renner answered right back with a 18-yard touchdown pass to Quinshad Davis less than two minutes later to put North Carolina up 33-13. Later in the quarter Marquise Williams threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Bug Howard to give the Tar Heels even more of a cushion.
Middle Tennessee backup quarterback Austin Grammer connected with Chris Perkins on a 12-yard TD pass play, cutting the lead late in the game to 40-20.
Coming into the game Renner had not thrown an interception in his last 134 attempts, but the streak ended at 140 when he was picked off by defensive back Sammy Seamster early in the second quarter.
