NCAA Game Summary - Hawaii at Air Force

United States Air Force Academy, CO (Sports Network) - Cody Getz rushed 21 times for 125 yards and a touchdown to push Air Force to a 21-7 victory over the Hawaii Warriors in a Mountain West Conference matchup at Falcon Stadium.
Jon Lee provided a spark with 72 yards on eight attempts for Air Force (6-5, 5-2 MWC), which ended a two-game losing slide and became bowl eligible with the win. Wes Cobb turned 12 carries into 54 yards and two scores while Austin Niklas paced the defensive unit with nine total tackles. The Falcons' defense was remarkable as they held their opponent to 37 rushing yards on 31 attempts for a 1.2 yard per carry average.
Jeremy Higgins completed 14-of-23 attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown while under center for Hawaii (1-9, 0-6), which lost its eighth consecutive outing. Higgins was sacked three times for a loss of 26 yards. Clark Evans made three receptions for 55 yards and the team's only touchdown.
The Warriors took a 7-0 lead at the 6:39 mark of the opening quarter when Higgins completed a 26-yard strike for six points to Evans.
Air Force scored its first points with 12:13 remaining before the intermission as Cobb ran two yards across the goal line. Neither side managed to score again before the second quarter's conclusion, which sent the game into halftime knotted up at 7-7.
Getz gave the Falcons their first lead of the game with a five-yard touchdown run just over three minutes after the start of the third quarter. Getz's touchdown run punctuated a seven-play, 81-yard drive.
Air Force added some insurance with 34 seconds left in the third frame by producing an eight-play, 80-yard drive which ended with Cobb's second touchdown run of the contest.
Neither side managed to produce any more points in the contest. Air Force did not attempt a pass on any of its 68 offensive plays, but it still gained 338 yards of total offense while limiting Hawaii to 162 yards on offense.
The Falcons accepted a bid to play in the Armed Forces Bowl soon after the conclusion of the game.
