(Saturday, January 26) Final Score: BYU 85, Portland 67 Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Matt Carlino scored 24 points and Brandon Davies posted a double-double as the BYU Cougars routed the Portland Pilots, 85-67, in a West Coast Conference conflict at the Chiles Center. Davies had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Tyler Haws added 19 points for BYU (16-6, 6-2 WCC) which had lost two of three entering play. Ryan Nicholas had a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double and Kevin Bailey added 12 points for Portland (8-14, 1-6) which has lost four straight. BYU got out to a 39-29 lead at halftime by shooting 51.7 percent while outscoring the Pilots 8-3 from the free-throw line. Portland shot 48 percent in the first half. In the second half the Cougars shot at a 51.6 percent clip while nailing 5-of-7 shots from beyond the arc as they coasted to the win. In the game BYU forced 17 turnovers which the Cougars traded in for 24 points. Portland had just four points off of 11 BYU turnovers. 01/27 01:32:43 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
