(Saturday, February 16) Final Score: Detroit 84, Valparaiso 74 Valparaiso, IN (Sports Network) - Evan Bruinsma recorded a double-double off the bench with 12 points and 10 boards as the Detroit Titans defeated the Valparaiso Crusaders, 84-74, in Horizon League action at the Athletics- Recreation Center. Jason Calliste and Nick Minnerath contributed 21 points apiece for the Titans (18-9, 10-4 Horizon). Ray McCallum added 15 points, six assists and five rebounds as Detroit won for the sixth time in its last seven games. For the Crusaders (20-7, 10-3), Matt Kenney netted a team-high 18 points off the bench. Will Bogan chipped in 15 points and Ryan Broekhoff added 10 points. Erik Buggs was two assists shy of a double-double with 12 points. Kevin Van Wijk posted 10 points and nine boards as Valparaiso had its four-game winning streak concluded. In the opening 20 minutes, Valparaiso made 45.2 percent of its shots from the floor including 7-of-16 beyond the arc, while limiting Detroit to a mere 1- of-3 shooting from long-range, en route to a 37-26 advantage at the break. Detroit came back after the break by making 20-of-30 of its shots from the floor, including 3-of-5 beyond the arc while adding 15 more at the free-throw line. Valparaiso was held to a mere 4-of-11 from distance after halftime as Detroit won the second half by a sizeable, 58-37 margin.
