(Sunday, December 30) Final Score: Detroit 83, Canisius 78 Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Ray McCallum scored a game-high 22 points and handed out seven assists as the Detroit Titans topped the Canisius Golden Griffins, 83-78, in the final game of the Gotham Classic at Calihan Hall. Jason Calliste added 19 points for Detroit (8-5) which had five players in double figures. Nick Minnerath finished with 16 points and Doug Anderson and Juwan Howard Jr. each chipped in 13 points. The Titans have won 16 straight games at home and six of their last seven overall. Billy Baron had 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Canisius (9-4) which had won three of its previous four. Jordan Heath and Isaac Sosa each added 17 points and Harold Washington contributed 13 points. Canisius shot at a 53.1 percent clip in the first half, including a 5-of-9 effort from beyond the arc, and took a 42-39 lead at halftime. Detroit connected on 48.4 percent of its shots in the first 20 minutes. The Titans took their first lead of the second half, 57-55, on a 3-pointer from Minnerath with nine minutes remaining. Detroit would never surrender that advantage despite never leading by more than eight points as the Titans went 9-of-10 from the free throw line in the final minute to hold off the Golden Griffins.
