(Saturday, February 16) Final Score: Cal Poly 67, UC Santa Barbara 49 San Luis Obispo, CA (Sports Network) - Dylan Royer scored 23 points as the Cal Poly Mustangs crushed the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 67-49 in a Big West Conference matchup at Mott Gym. Also scoring in double figures for the Mustangs (12-11, 8-5 Big West) was Kyle Odister with 11 points off the bench as the team logged a third straight win. The Gauchos (8-16, 4-9), losers of six of the last seven outings, were paced by Alan Williams who produced a huge double-double consisting of 24 points and 17 rebounds, but Michael Bryson was the only other double-digit scorer for the group with 10 points off the bench before fouling out. Cal Poly shot just 9-of-30 from the floor in the first half, including 3-of-13 behind the 3-point line, but thanks to an 8-of-9 showing at the free-throw line the host was still able to put up a 29-21 lead at the break. In the second half the Mustangs left no doubt as they connected on 8-of-17 shots on the perimeter in order to cruise to the 18-point win. UCSB was guilty of 16 turnovers and managed to pull down just five offensive rebounds on the night. 02/17 02:00:50 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
