Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 22 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Georgetown Hoyas captured an 83-71 win over the Providence Friars in a Big East Conference battle at the Verizon Center.

Markel Starks shot only 2-of-10 behind the 3-point line but still finished with 14 points for the Hoyas (15-9, 6-6 Big East) as they posted their fourth straight win. Jabril Trawick delivered 12 points off the bench and Reggie Cameron added 11, while Mikael Hopkins stepped up with eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds before fouling out.

The Friars (16-9, 6-6) were led by Bryce Cotton who generated a game-high 31 points, shooting 5-of-6 beyond the arc, while Kadeem Batts and Tyler Harris chipped in 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Shooting 5-of-11 behind the 3-point line and a near-perfect 9-of-10 at the charity stripe in the first half, Providence managed to move out to a 36-32 advantage at the break.

Over the final 20 minutes of action the Friars were held to 2-of-10 on the perimeter and only 33.3 percent from the floor overall. The hosts not only converted 53.6 percent from the field, they also hit on 17-of-19 at the free- throw line in order to grab the double-digit win.

In a game that featured five ties and eight lead changes, the Hoyas minimized their mistakes by turning the ball over a mere five times.
