GAME NOTES: The Virginia Cavaliers will try to rebound from a loss to Duke that broke up their three-game winning streak when they host the Florida State Seminoles in Atlantic Coast Conference action at John Paul Jones Arena.

Florida State hopes to avoid the same fate as they travel to Charlottesville. The Seminoles have a three-game win streak going, with a victory over ACC rival Miami, 63-53, in the team's most recent outing. Florida State has won seven of its last eight games.

Virginia only dropped the contest to No. 23-ranked Duke by four points, 69-65, which proved to be the Cavaliers' only ACC loss this season. Now Virginia will try to battle back in the first game of a three-game homestand.

Florida State holds a slim all-time series lead, 19-17. These two programs haven't taken the court together since 2011, and will not meet on the court during the regular season again this year.

The Seminoles and Hurricanes were almost dead even headed into the final four minutes of play in Wednesday's matchup, but Florida State used a 13-0 run in that span to grab a hold of the lead for good, taking the 10-point win. Aaron Thomas scored a team-high 12 points in the win for Florida State on 3-of-7 shooting from the floor. Boris Bojanovsky and Devon Bookert each netted 11 points, while Ian Miller contributed 10. The Seminoles rebounded from a 32- percent shooting performance in the first half to hit 61.9 percent in the second.

Neither Miller nor Thomas have started a game this season for Florida State, but the two lead the team in points per contest. Miller tops the squad with 13.7 ppg, while Thomas isn't too far off the lead at 12.7 ppg. With such a dynamic and depth-included lineup, the Seminoles can afford to have their two top scorers come off the bench. Big man Okaro White is third on the team in scoring at 12.2 ppg, and is the team's leading rebounder at 6.6 rpg.

Virginia was hanging tough with Duke until a Blue Devils 3-pointer with 18.8 seconds to play put a dagger in the Cavaliers' hearts. Virginia lost the game to the nationally ranked Blue Devils. Malcolm Brogdon scored a team-high 17 points for the Cavs, adding five rebounds and a perfect 5-of-5 touch from the free-throw line. Joe Harris added 15 points in the losing effort, while Justin Anderson netted 10. The Cavaliers shot just 38.2 percent from the floor.

Harris and Brogdon are the top two scorers for this Virginia squad this season, each netting just over 10 points a contest. Harris leads the team at 10.9 ppg while Brogdon sits on a 10.5 ppg average. Akil Mitchell leads the team in rebounding with a 6.6 rpg mark, and London Perrantes tops the roster with 57 assists on the year. In 17 games played, the Cavaliers are holding their opponents to a 56 ppg average.

Both teams are fighting for ACC supremacy, and although Virginia is the host, Florida State has been playing exceptionally well, both on the offensive and defensive ends.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Florida State 70, Virginia 65
