NCAA Game Summary - Denver at Texas State

San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Brett Olson set a pair of new career-highs with 22 points and seven assists while leading the Denver Pioneers to a 79-64 victory over the Texas State Bobcats in a Western Athletic Conference tilt at Strahan Coliseum.

Royce O'Neale added 14 points for Denver (13-8, 9-2 WAC) as it collected its second consecutive win. Jalen Love and Chris Udofia provided 12 points apiece and the latter also grabbed a team-best six boards.

Joel Wright poured in 33 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Texas State (7-16, 3-8), but none of the other Bobcats joined him in double-figures. Texas State's starting five combined to finish 4-of-20 from the field as it lost for the second time in a row.

The Pioneers led by as many as 12 before taking a 35-28 lead into the break. Denver scored 15 points off of turnovers and connected on 52.4 percent of its field goal attempts to stay in control for the opening 20 minutes. Texas State went 7-of-21 from the floor in the first half, but it stayed within striking distance by making 13-of-16 at the free-throw line.

Denver used a 24-18 edge in points in the paint to extend its lead after the break. The Pioneers stayed in front by a double-digit margin for the final 16:53 of the contest.

Despite the loss, Texas State enjoyed a 33-25 advantage in the rebounding battle. Denver dealt out 17 assists to 14 turnovers in the game, but the Bobcats finished with only six assists to 16 miscues.
