Final Score: NY Giants 24, Tampa Bay 0

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Eli Manning threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-24 efficiency, and the New York Giants used great defense to make short work of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 24-0, in Week 3 action at Raymond James Stadium.

Ahmad Bradshaw tallied 104 yards on 14 carries and Brandon Jacobs added 92 yards and a score on 26 rushes for the Giants (3-0), who travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs next Sunday. Steve Smith racked up 63 yards and a TD on seven grabs and Sinorice Moss also had a TD reception.

The Giants outgained the Buccaneers, 397-86. Tampa Bay had just 28 yards rushing. The Bucs also failed to record a first down in the opening two quarters, and totaled just 19 yards over that span. Tampa Bay had just five first downs the entire game.

"Our main concern was, once we got into the red zone, getting touchdowns," said Manning. "They (the Bucs) were playing us too high with the safeties deep...we ran the ball terrific all day."

Byron Leftwich was a pedestrian 7-of-16 for 22 yards and an interception, and Josh Johnson was 4-for-10 for 36 yards in relief for the Bucs (0-3), who will have to wait to give rookie head coach Raheem Morris his first victory. Johnson also led all rushers with a 15-yard carry. Sammie Stroughter led all Tampa Bay receivers with 23 yards on two grabs.

The Giants took the opening possession of the game 80 yards in 12 plays to assume a 7-0 lead with 8:05 showing on the clock. Jacobs' six-yard run up the middle gave New York its first red zone touchdown of the season.

The teams both punted on their next touch and, after the Bucs got the ball back, Leftwich went downfield for Kellen Winslow. However, his throw was errant as Mathias Kiwanuka hit him mid-throw and Terrell Thomas wound up with an easy pick.

"They just controlled the ball, controlled the line of scrimmage...they played well on defense," said Bucs safety Will Allen. "It was tough, it was just tough out there. I look forward to next week...we have to come back and come back ready."

New York then embarked on a drive that bridged the first two quarters. The Giants started at their own 34 while Bradshaw's 38-yard run highlighted the trek, and Smith's four-yard TD catch closed it out to give the visitors a 14-0 lead early in the second.

"We just stayed in rhythm, within our game plan," Manning added. "We had a lot of (good situations) where we could run or pass."

Lawrence Tynes missed a 21-yard field goal wide left with under 30 seconds left, and it was still 14-0 at the half.

After holding the Bucs to a three-and-out on the second half's first possession, the Giants went 64 yards in 12 plays. However, the drive stalled at the eight-yard line and Tynes nailed a 26-yarder to give the Giants a 17-0 edge with just under six minutes left in the third.

Moss hauled in an 18-yard TD pass from Manning to give New York a 24-point advantage early in the fourth.

Johnson took over for Leftwich in the fourth, and led his team from their own 24 all the way down to the Giants five. However, the drive stalled there and Tampa Bay failed to convert on 4th-and-goal.

Game Notes

Prior to Jacobs' first-quarter touchdown, the Giants were the only team in the NFL without a red zone TD. Jacobs has a touchdown in his last three games against Tampa Bay...Manning is 29-9 in his last 38 starts (including playoffs)...The Bucs lost their seventh straight game (dating back to last season).
