Description: In a recent interview with ESPN Radio, Kobe Bryant made it seem like he wants to play at least two more seasons in the NBA.
Insight: Earlier, Bryant had hinted that the 2013-14 season would be his last but seeing Tim Duncan lead the Spurs to the Finals this year may have changed his mind. "If [Duncan] does win five, hopefully that pushes our organization upstairs to be even more determined and more driven to make the necessary expenses to make sure we continue the next year and the year after that." That's good news for Mamba fans. Meanwhile, Bryant is still recovering from surgery on his torn Achilles.

Description: Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant is walking on a weight-bearing treadmill as he works his way back from the Achilles injury.
Insight: It's a serious injury, but we're confident Bryant will come back, through sheer will. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Bryant should still be able to play most of the 2013-14 season, but we're a long way from making predictions for his return.

Description: Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant will undergo surgery Saturday to repair a torn left Achilles. The team's trainer, Gary Vitti, set Bryant's timetable for recovery at 6-to-9 months. SOURCE: Lakers on Twitter
Insight: With Kobe sidelined, the Lakers stand almost no chance of making it out of the first round (not that they had much of a chance anyway). It's a serious injury but we're confident Bryant will come back at 100 percent. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Bryant should still be able to play most of the 2013-14 season.

Description: Los Angeles guard Kobe Bryant is done for 6-to-12 months if early reports of a complete Achilles tear are correct. He'll have an MRI on Saturday to confirm the diagnosis.
Insight: Bryant was putting together another big game with 34 points, five rebounds and four assists when the fourth quarter injury sent him to the locker room.

Hot4/11/2013 9:29:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles guard Kobe Bryant had a monster game Wednesday against Portland. According to Elias, he is the first player to record 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals in a single game since the NBA began keeping track of these statistics in the early 1970s.
Insight: The 47 points were a season-high for Kobe, who played all 48 minutes for the second time in his last six games. It's also the eighth time this season Kobe has gone for at least 40 points and the 120th time he's done so in 17 NBA seasons. You're watching a legend at work, folks. Don't be surprised if Kobe plays every minute of every game the rest of the season as L.A. tries to lock down the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

Description: Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant flirted with a triple-double Sunday against the Clippers.
Insight: He posted 24 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. He was on the floor for all but one minute on Sunday.

Description: Los Angeles shooting guard Kobe Bryant reached another milestone Saturday against Sacramento. With 19 points, The Black Mamba moved past Wilt Chamberlain into fourth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
Insight: He now trails just Michael Jordan, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most all-time. It's unlikely Bryant (14 assists in 48 minutes Saturday) will retire as the league's all-time scoring leader however, as he told reporters after the game that the 2013-14 season will probably be his last.

Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's game after receiving treatment on his left foot and ankle on Friday, according to Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register. Bryant is dealing with a bone spur in his left foot.
Insight: As long as he can't hurt it further and only has to withstand the pain, we expect Bryant to play and play well. Bryant used a crutch to leave the arena in Milwaukee on Thursday, but said he would play and we believe him.

Description: According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com, the outlook on Kobe Bryant's foot this morning wasn't as "rosy" as Thursday night, when he suffered a bone spur.
Insight: As long as he can't hurt it further and only has to withstand the pain, we expect Bryant to play and play well. Bryant used a crutch to leave the arena in Milwaukee on Thursday, but said he would play and we believe him.

Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has scored more than 30 points in each of the last two games with an average of 33.5 ppg.
Insight: Bryant missed just two games to rest his severely sprained ankle and has returned to play an average of 39 minutes over the last three games.

3/23/2013 3:23:00 PM
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (ankle) returned from a two-game absence and scored 21 points with four rebounds, 11 assists and two steals in 38 minutes Friday against the Wizards.
Insight: Bryant sat out two games to rest his sprained ankle and evidently that was enough for the fierce competitor. Fantasy owners can safely get him back in the lineup.

3/22/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (ankle) practiced Thursday and coach Mike D'Antoni expects him to play Friday.
Insight: Bryant did leave the practice early, after the ankle stiffened, but knowing Kobe there is no way he misses any more playing time. After missing two games, he's sure to be back on the floor firing away as the Lakers scramble to make the playoffs.

Insight: Bryant has missed L.A.'s last two games because of an ankle injury. The Lakers need him to play down the stretch if they want to have any chance of making the postseason.

3/18/2013 7:57:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles shooting guard Kobe Bryant won't compete against the Suns Monday night in Phoenix. He's suffering from a sprained left ankle.
Insight: Jodie Meeks got the start in Bryant's place Sunday and we're guessing that will be the case again Monday. Meeks posted just six points in his outing Sunday and doesn't present any real fantasy value.

3/18/2013 10:58:00 AM
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant missed Sunday's game with a sprained ankle and is doubtful for Monday's game against Phoenix. He's also dealing with the flu.
Insight: Bryant couldn't make it past the first quarter Friday night after suffering a bad sprain Wednesday. Not add the flu and there is little chance he'll play against the Suns. Steve Nash and Dwight Howard should thrive without Bryant dominating the Lakers' offensive sets.

3/17/2013 9:03:00 PM
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will miss Sunday's game with a sprained ankle and an illness, according to Mark Medina of the LA Daily News.
Insight: Bryant couldn't make it past the first quarter Friday night after suffering a bad sprain Wednesday.

3/17/2013 3:20:00 PM
Description: Kobe Bryant is also dealing with an illness in addition to his ankle injury.
Insight: Incredibly, the Lakers are still refusing to rule Bryant out for Sunday's game against Sacramento. Bryant couldn't get anything going on his bad ankle Friday (zero points in just 12 minutes) so even if he does play, he'll be extremely limited. Fantasy owners should look elsewhere for production on St. Patrick's Day.

3/16/2013 9:01:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles shooting guard Kobe Bryant has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Kings. Bryant suffered a severely sprained ankle Wednesday versus Atlanta and was limited to just 12 minutes Friday in a win at Indiana.
Insight: Give Kobe credit for playing through the injury on Friday night. He'll do whatever it takes to win. Clearly he's hobbled though and not able to contribute at the level we're used to seeing from him. Bryant (27.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 5.8 apg) will rise again but for now, fantasy owners should give him a hiatus so his ankle can get back to full strength.
