Description: Tigers right-hander had his first non-quality start since April 3 Saturday against Texas, allowing nine hits and six runs (five earned) in 2 2/3 innings.
Insight: Sanchez brought a 2.05 ERA and a 66/12 K/BB into the game. Sanchez has a 1.80 FIP, but has a .356 BABIP due in large part to a 25.9 percent line-drive rate.

Description: Tigers righthander Anibal Sanchez fanned 17 Braves in a brilliant outing Friday night at Comerica Park.
Insight: Sanchez allowed just five hits and one walk during his eight inning masterpiece. Many thought the Tigers overpaid Sanchez (3-1, 1.34 ERA) when they inked him to a five-year, $80 million deal this offseason. So far, he's been worth every penny.

Description: Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings Tuesday against the Blue Jays to earn his first win of the season.
Insight: Sanchez has a 13/4 K/BB through 12 innings this season. He had a few rough outings after coming to the American League from the Marlins last season but he had a 2.15 ERA over 54 1/3 innings in his final eight starts.

Description: Updating a previous report, the Chicago Cubs thought they had a five-year deal for $75 million with Anibal Sanchez but Sanchez gave the Detroit Tigers a chance to match the offer. SOURCE: Bob Nightengale, USA Today
Insight: The Tigers are reportedly Sanchez' first choice but were not willing to go to a fifth year until the Cubs did. Sanchez went 9-13 with a 3.86 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 195 2/3 innings last season with Miami and Detroit and owns a career ERA of 3.75. From a fantasy perspective, the National League presents a softer hitting environment but Sanchez has a better chance to pick up victories with the Tigers.

Description: ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Dodgers have bowed out of the Anibal Sanchez sweepstakes.
Insight: This weekend the Dodgers added Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu to a starting rotation that already included Clayton Kershaw, Josh Beckett and Chad Billingsley. In fact, with Aaron Harang and Chris Capuano still under contract, Los Angeles might actually have too many starting pitchers. As for Sanchez, he's still being pursued by the Rangers, Red Sox and Tigers. The Royals were also linked to Sanchez (9-13, 3.86 ERA) at one point but they're likely out of the running now after acquiring James Shields and Wade Davis from Tampa Bay on Monday.

Description: Jim Bowden of ESPN says that the Dodgers will pursue righthander Anibal Sanchez if Zack Greinke ends up signing with Texas.
Insight: Greinke is holding both the Dodgers and Rangers hostage right now. Until he decides which team he'd rather play for, Texas can't make a move for Justin Upton or Josh Hamilton and Los Angeles won't be able to pursue some of the other free agents and trade targets they've been associated with. Once the Greinke puzzle is solved, everything else should fall into place.

Description: Jon Heyman from CBS Sports reports that free agent righthander Anibal Sanchez has rejected Detroit's four year, $48 million offer.
Insight: Sanchez's agent called the offer an "insult." Sanchez is still hoping to earn $90 million for six years though the Winter Meetings in Nashville should determine whether or not that's actually a realistic proposal.

Description: Jon Paul Morosi from Fox Sports says that free agent righthander Anibal Sanchez is looking for a six-year, $90 million deal.
Insight: That seems pretty ambitious. Remember, Sanchez has never been to an All-Star game and carries a losing record for his career (48-51). With so few pitching options on the market this year, Sanchez will definitely get a big contract this offseason. But $90 million still seems a little unrealistic.

Description: Boston could be a destination for free agent starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez according to the Boston Herald's Michael Silverman.
Insight: Sanchez came into his own with Detroit this season, collecting a 3.74 ERA in 12 starts after the Marlins dealt him at the trade deadline. The Red Sox's starting rotation struggled mightily this past season (4.70 ERA) so obviously, Sanchez would be filling a huge need.

10/15/2012 9:15:00 AM
Description: Detroit righthander Anibal Sanchez was outstanding Sunday in a win over the Yankees.
Insight: The 28-year-old allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings, walking three and striking out three. Sanchez will pitch again in Game 6, if there is one.

Hot9/25/2012 9:21:00 PM
Description: Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez twirled a complete game three-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 2-0 victory over Kansas City on Tuesday.
Insight: Sanchez (9-13, 3.95 ERA) struggled initially after coming over from the National League but he is 3-3 with a 2.25 ERA in his last seven starts.

9/20/2012 6:53:00 PM
Description: Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez allowed five earned runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings Thursday against Oakland, though he did fan eight against two walks.
Insight: Sanchez (8-13, 4.14 ERA) was coming off five straight quality starts after getting roughed up early in his stint with the Tigers. The right-hander has posted a 21/2 K/BB ratio over his last 19 1/3 innings.

Hot9/16/2012 11:08:00 AM
Description: Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez has thrown five-straight quality starts after getting crushed in three of his first four starts in the American League.
Insight: Sanchez, like Zack Greinke and Ryan Dempster, struggled after moving from the NL to the AL, but all three pitchers have turned things around. Sanchez is 2-2 with a 1.89 ERA in his last five starts.

8/22/2012 10:25:00 PM
Description: Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez had his best start with the team Wednesday against Toronto, firing six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits (2 BB, 6 K).
Insight: Sanchez hadn't started since Aug. 13 after manager Jim Leyland juggled his rotation to deal with two off days in five days. Mlive.com reported Sanchez spent the past week working on his location with Tigers pitching coach Jeff Jones.

8/8/2012 11:03:00 PM
Description: Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez has not enjoyed his foray into the American League thus far. The right-hander allowed seven runs in three innings Wednesday against the Yankees.
Insight: Sanchez has allowed 13 earned runs in 15 innings over his first three starts with the Tigers. Fantasy owners should only give him another start or two to turn it around before going in another direction.

7/24/2012 5:00:00 PM
Description: Right-hander Anibal Sanchez will make his Tigers debut Saturday against Toronto, according to Chris Iott of MLive.com.
Insight: Going from the National League to the American League is rarely conducive to fantasy success for a starter, but Sanchez has the stuff to succeed and should receive much better run support with the Tigers.

7/23/2012 5:53:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez reportedly has been traded to the Detroit Tigers along with second baseman Omar Infante.
Insight: Fox Sports' Jon Morosi tweeted the move Monday afternoon and CBS Sports' Danny Knobler confirmed it. While we would have preferred the right-hander stay in the National League, the AL Central doesn't have many strong offenses and Comerica Park is spacious. Plus, the Marlins have provided Sanchez with less than four runs per start in each of the last two seasons so he will likely win more games with the Tigers.

7/22/2012 5:17:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez has put together three straight solid starts since his six-start rough patch.
Insight: Sanchez watched his ERA rise from 2.56 to 4.19 from June 5 to July 3, but he's recorded a 2.70 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP and an 18/2 K/BB ratio in 20 innings over his last three starts.

Cold6/27/2012 9:59:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez bounced back from a string of rough outings to pick up a win in seven strong innings Wednesday against St. Louis.
Insight: Sanchez came in 1-4 with a 6.49 ERA in his last six starts and a K/BB of 11/10 in his last three starts. Things didn't start out well Wednesday, as Sanchez gave up two runs in the first inning, but he rebounded to hold the Cardinals to three runs on seven hits in seven innings.

Cold6/22/2012 10:24:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Anibal Sanchez allowed six earned runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings Friday against Toronto. Sanchez walked four and struck out three as he dropped to 3-6.
Insight: Over his last six turns, Sanchez is 1-4 with a 6.49 ERA. He has a K/BB of 11/10 in his last three starts. Still, we expect a turnaround, as Sanchez' stuff is too good for him to suffer results like this for long.
