Bethlehem, PA (Sports Network) - Branden Frazier recorded a team-high 19
points giving the Fordham Rams their first win against the Penn Quakers,
70-68, in the NIT Season Tip-Off consolation round at Stabler Arena.
Frazier made 9-of-10 free throws for the Rams (1-3) and also had a team-high
seven assists and six rebounds. Bryan Smith chipped in 14 points, while
Jeffery Short added 12 points off the bench.
For the Penn Quakers (1-3), Fran Dougherty scored a game-high 20 points to go
along with 8 rebounds. Miles Cartwright added another 20 points and five
assists in the setback.
Despite Penn starting out on a 6-0 run, the Rams stayed strong, battling back
to a 36-35 lead at halftime. Penn was held to a mere 1-of-5 from beyond the
arc in the first 20 minutes of play.
Three made field goals in the final 15 seconds of the game would seal the win
for Fordham.
Fordham shot 42.1 percent from long-range, shooting 8-of-19, while the Quakers
made only 3-of-14 (.214) from beyond the arc.
