Princeton, NJ (Sports Network) - Eli Carter scored 22 points to lead the
Rutgers Scarlet Knights over the Princeton Tigers, 58-52, in an intrastate
matchup at Jadwin Gymnasium.
For the Scarlet Knights (2-1), Myles Mack added 16 points while Kadeem Jack and
Wally Judge pulled down seven rebounds each.
Will Barrett scored 13 points and Ian Hummer chipped in 10 points and six
assists for the Tigers (1-2). T.J. Bray grabbed a game-high eights rebounds.
Princeton struggled from the field to start the contest, hitting on only 32
percent of its attempts from the field in the first half. Rutgers had a solid
shooting performance in the opening half, making 41.7 percent of its field goal
tries, including a healthy 6-of-10 clip from three-point range, as it went into
halftime leading 33-27.
After the break, both teams had difficulty producing points. The Scarlet
Knights connected on only 36.8 percent of their shots from the field while the
Tigers could manage to net only 31.8 of their field goal attempts. Rutgers
stayed in front for the entire second half and led by as many as 10 points
Princeton was able to convert 16 Rutgers turnovers into 23 points. The
Scarlet Knights dominated the boards, outrebounding the Tigers 42-24.
