NCAA Game Summary - Furman at East Tennessee State

Johnson City, TN (Sports Network) - Mike Smith scored a game-high 32 points as the East Tennessee State Buccaneers topped the Furman Paladins, 76-63, as part of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at the MSHA Athletic Center.
Smith finished the night shooting 11-of-17 from the floor and a perfect 9-of-9 at the free-throw line for the Buccaneers (23-11). Also scoring in double figures was Justin Tubbs with 22 points to go along with six rebounds and five steals in the win.
The Paladins (22-11) were led by Jordan Miller and Charlie Reddick with 12 points apiece in the setback.
ETSU scored the first points of the contest and never looked back, surging ahead by as many as 14 points in the first half before putting up a 43-31 advantage at the break. The Bucs shot 51.9 percent from the floor in the period as well as 12-of-14 at the free-throw line.
In the second half East Tennessee State again shot the ball well from the field at 50 percent and converted all but one of eight tries at the charity stripe, en route to the 13-point win.
Furman was guilty of 17 turnovers and shot only 16-of-27 at the free-throw line on the road.
With the victory the Buccaneers advance to the second round of the tournament and will face an opponent to be determined later this week.
