No. 5 Louisville handles Fairleigh Dickinson
Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Kyle Kuric scored 18 points, Peyton Siva netted 16 and Gorgui Dieng posted a double-double, as fifth-ranked Louisville rolled past Fairleigh Dickinson, 80-58.
Dieng finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinals (9-0), who have yet to play on the road.
Melquan Bolding had a game-high 23 points on 6-of-18 shooting, while George Goode added 17 points and 12 boards for the Knights (1-8), who shot 36 percent from the field in their sixth straight loss.
Chane Behanan's dunk put the exclamation point on a quick 9-0 run that gave Louisville a 19-7 lead six-plus minutes into the first half.
"We got a lot of work tonight against the zone, which was really, really important because we haven't seen too much zone. And for the first seven or eight minutes, we attacked the zone and got some awesome shots," Louisville head coach Rick Pitino said.
A 10-point run later in the opening stanza pushed the margin to 37-18, and Tim Henderson's three-pointer in the final seconds yielded a healthy 44-25 cushion for the hosts.
The lead never dipped below 14 in the second half and reached as high as 31.
"They were very active defensively. We have never seen defense like that so far this year," Fairleigh Dickinson head coach Greg Vetrone said.
Louisville shot 43 percent from the field...Siva also doled out nine assists...Lonnie Hayes shot 2-for-11 from the field for the Knights, finishing with five points to go with six assists.
