Final Score: Montreal 24, Toronto 12

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Anthony Calvillo threw for 255 yards and the go-ahead touchdown strike in the third quarter as the Montreal Alouettes topped the Toronto Argonauts, 24-12, on Sunday at Rogers Centre.

Calvillo completed 16-of-31 passes with an interception and Jamel Richardson finished with three catches for 109 yards and a touchdown as the Als (9-6) avoided losing three straight games for the first time this season.

Victor Anderson hauled in seven passes for 51 yards and Chris Jennings led the rushing attack with 86 yards on 10 carries.

"It was a tough fight out there. It was tough for me to get the ball to the right guys," Calvillo said. "We grinded it out and got a win. We had to find a way to win this game."

Jarious Jackson threw for 239 yards and a major on 20-of-40 passing, while Andre Durie caught six passes for 81 yards and a score for the Argonauts (7-8), who have lost back-to-back games.

Toronto took a 2-0 advantage on a pair of singles after one quarter, and finally struck for a major with just over seven minutes to play before halftime.

Following a single by the Alouettes, Toronto began its ensuing drive on the 35 and marched 75 yards in 10 plays, capped when Jackson hooked up with Durie for a 24-yard touchdown strike and a 9-1 lead.

Montreal responded with a 9-play, 49-yard drive which culminated in a 35-yard field goal off the leg of Sean Whyte, who also connected on a 27-yard field goal in the final seconds of the first half to cut the deficit to 9-7 at the break.

The Als began their third possession of the second half on the Toronto 49 after forcing a turnover on downs. They drove down to the Toronto 30 before Whyte booted a 37-yarder through the uprights, making it a 10-9 game.

Toronto answered with a 37-yard field goal from Swayze Waters after the Argo defense forced a fumble, making it 12-10, but the Als grabbed the lead back for good on the first play of their next drive.

Starting from the 35, Calvillo dropped back and connected with Richardson down the left sideline for a 75-yard major score and a 17-12 Montreal lead with just over 2 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter.

The Alouette defense put the game away with just over nine minutes to play when Shea Emry jumped in front of a Jackson pass and took it 46 yards the other way for the touchdown, accounting for the final margin.

"They came out strong in the second half," Toronto receiver Chad Owens said. "We weren't out of it, but we didn't make enough plays in the second half."

It was Durie's second receiving touchdown of the season ... Montreal won the season series between the teams, 2-1, and held the Argos under 20 points in two of the three matchups ...Emry's touchdown return was the first defensive interception return for a score of the season for Montreal.
