Jimmy Clausen waited longer than anticipated to hear his name announced during the 2010 NFL Draft, as the Notre Dame quarterback was taken with the 48th overall pick by the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers, who did not pick in the first round, were in need of a new signal-caller after waiving Jake Delhomme in March. Clausen, 22, opted to leave school a year early after tossing 28 touchdowns with just four interceptions last season for the disappointing Fighting Irish.
"We talked to a lot of people and obviouisly felt good about him," Carolina general manager Marty Hurney said. "We think he's an excellent quarterback. We feel extremely fortunate to get a quarterback of his ability with the 48th pick...It was just a great feeling." continue>> |
