Description: Miami utilityman Emilio Bonifacio (knee) has been ruled out for the season, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post.
Insight: Bonifacio is shutting it down to get healthy for 2013. The light-hitting Bonifacio will carry 2B/OF eligibility next season, but he'll lose 3B and SS because he didn't play at either of those positions this season. Still, he figures to be a mid-round target due to his stolen base ability (30 in 64 games this season).

8/22/2012 6:33:00 PM
Description: Miami utilityman Emilio Bonifacio, who was recently activated from the 15-day disabled list, is back on the shelf. The team placed Bonifacio on the DL with a knee sprain Wednesday.
Insight: Bonifacio has made three trips to the disabled list this season and he's likely to be out until mid-September.

8/22/2012 10:57:00 AM
Description: Miami utilityman Emilio Bonifacio, who was recently activated from the 15-day disabled list, is injured again. Bonifacio left Tuesday's game with a sore right knee.
Insight: When healthy, Bonifacio is a base-stealing machine with 30 SB in just 64 games. Unfortunately, he's rarely been healthy this season.

8/19/2012 12:42:00 PM
Description: Miami utilityman Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and is in the lineup Sunday.
Insight: Bonifacio will play the outfield for the rest of the season as the team looks to protect his thumb, which has landed him on the disabled list twice this season. He was moved to second base after the team traded Omar Infante to Detroit.

8/16/2012 6:09:00 PM
Description: Miami utilityman Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) had two hits in his first rehab game Wednesday, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post.
Insight: Bonifacio should be back in the Marlins lineup Sunday barring any setbacks.

8/4/2012 5:01:00 PM
Description: Miami's Emilio Bonifacio was initially feared to be lost for the season due to a sprained left thumb but Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post said the injury is not as bad as the Marlins thought Friday.
Insight: Bonifacio is only expected to miss 2-3 weeks after initially being ruled out for the season. The utilityman's 30 steals will keep him on fantasy rosters but owners have to be growing impatient with his frequent injuries.

8/4/2012 1:54:00 PM
Description: Miami's Emilio Bonifacio has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Bonifacio (.261, 1 HRs, 11 RBIs, league-leading 30 SB) isn't an elite hitter but he does tend to fill up the stat sheet in one area: stolen bases.

8/4/2012 12:22:00 PM
Description: Miami's Emilio Bonifacio is expected to miss Saturday's game against Washington with a sprained left thumb.
Insight: Bonifacio (.261, 1 HRs, 11 RBIs, league-leading 30 SB) isn't an elite hitter but he does tend to fill up the stat sheet in one area: stolen bases.

8/2/2012 10:22:00 AM
Description: Miami center fielder Emilio Bonifacio would be a first-ballot Hall of Famer if he got to face Braves starter Mike Minor every night. For his career he's hitting .429 against the Atlanta lefthander.
Insight: Bonifacio (.268, 1 HRs, 9 RBIs) isn't an elite hitter but he does tend to fill up the stat sheet in one area: stolen bases. He bagged his 29th steal of the season Wednesday in a 4-2 Marlins victory. That's the second-highest stolen base total in the NL. Dodgers shortstop Dee Gordon has 30 to lead the league.

7/23/2012 9:52:00 PM
Description: Marlins outfielder Emilio Bonifacio hit his first homer of the season Monday against Atlanta.
Insight: Bonifacio is a viable fantasy option solely for his speed (25 SB in 50 games), as he has just eight extra-base hits this season. It would be a surprise if he left the ballpark again in the remaining two-plus months.

7/13/2012 6:18:00 PM
Description: Marlins outfielder Emilio Bonifacio has officially been activated from the DL. He'll play center field and bat seventh Friday against the Nationals. Bonifacio has been out since mid-May while tending to a strained left thumb.
Insight: Bonifacio has virtually no power and his batting average isn't anything special (.268) but he'll be an asset to any fantasy team that needs production out of the stolen base category. At the time of his injury, Bonifacio had been leading the major leagues in stolen bases with 20 thefts in 21 attempts.

7/13/2012 12:08:00 PM
Description: Marlins outfielder Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) is expected to be activated on Friday.
Insight: Bonifacio (.268, 20 SB in 39 games) should get right back to stealing bases when he returns, as long as his thumb injury doesn't hinder him from getting on base.

7/12/2012 10:44:00 AM
Description: Marlins outfielder Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) wrapped up his minor league rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter Wednesday and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday.
Insight: Bonifacio should get right back to stealing bases when he returns, as long as his thumb injury doesn't hinder him from getting on base.

6/22/2012 8:38:00 PM
Description: Marlins outfielder Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) is expected to begin hitting off a tee Monday.
Insight: Bonifacio is taking the steps necessary to get back to the big leagues, but he still has a while to go. Don't expect him back until after the All-Star break, which is currently a little more than two weeks away.

6/12/2012 5:06:00 PM
Description: The Marlins are hoping that outfielder Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) will be ready soon after the All-Star break.
Insight: Bonifacio is still first in baseball with 20 steals despite having last played on May 18, which should tell you how valuable he was to fantasy owners, especially since he's eligible at third base and shortstop. Bonifacio just had the stitches removed from his surgically repaired left thumb and he should be cleared to start baseball activities soon.

5/24/2012 4:27:00 PM
Description: Emilio Bonifacio will undergo surgery on his sprained thumb on Friday. He is expected to be on the shelf for the next 4-6 weeks.
Insight: For those of you who were relying on Bonifacio to carry you in the steals department (he's 20-21 in stolen base attempts in 39 games this season), this is very bad news.

5/20/2012 9:42:00 AM
Description: As expected, Emilio Bonifacio was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained thumb. The move is retroactive to May 19.
Insight: Bonifacio had an MRI on his thumb, but the results have not been released yet so we don't know the severity of the sprain. Hopefully the major league stolen base leader can return after the minimum amount of time on the disabled list.

5/19/2012 5:05:00 PM
Description: Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said he expects Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) will have to go on the disabled list.
Insight: The silver lining here is that at least Bonifacio didn't injure his lower body. The outfielder is 20-for-21 in stolen base attempts this season, with the one CS occuring during the play that injured his thumb.

5/19/2012 11:00:00 AM
Description: Emilio Bonifacio's is doubtful for Saturday's game against Cleveland with a sprained left thumb he injured while trying to steal a base in the fifth inning.
Insight: His 20 stolen bases leads the league and it would be awful for fantasy owners if he is out for any length of time. He's still just a two-category contributor (runs, SB), but he's keeping his average around the .270 mark.

5/18/2012 10:40:00 PM
Description: Emilio Bonifacio's left thumb injury suffered Friday in Miami's game against the Indians has been diagnosed as a sprain.
Insight: The game's top base stealer will probably be on the shelf for a couple of days but we'd be surprised if this injury is severe enough for him to land on the DL.
