Description: Kerry Wood closed out his major league career Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field with a strikeout of White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo. Wood had announced that he would retire after the game.
Insight: It was a pretty surreal moment at Wrigley Field as Wood's departure from the game brought on a lengthy standing ovation culminating in Wood's hugging his young son on his way to the dugout. Wood finished his career with a record of 86-75 and an ERA of 3.67. He'll always be most remembered for the 20-strikeout game he threw against the Astros in 1998. Overall, Wood made 445 major league appearances totaling 1379.2 innings for three different teams.

Insight: It's a steal for the Cubs who get a quality reliever for very little money. Wood is happy to be back in Chicago but fantasy owners in mixed leagues will only want him as a handcuff to Carlos Marmol.
