Description: New York catcher Brian McCann will get x-rays on his right index finger and taking a pitch off it in Sunday's game, according to Bryan Hoch of mlb.com.
Insight: He continued to play and isn't expected to miss time. Catcher's fingers are always getting nicked and its just part of the job. McCann was 4-for-11 with a pair of homers in the series with Boston.

Description: Brian McCann's new contract with the Yankees is worth $85 million over the next five seasons. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: It makes him the second-highest paid catcher in the major leagues (Joe Mauer is the highest). McCann is a massive upgrade over last year's starting catcher Chris Stewart but it's still a slight overpay when you consider McCann is hitting just .242 over his last two seasons.

11/23/2013 5:35:00 PM
Description: Free agent catcher Brian McCann is close to joining the Yankees.
Insight: Dallas Morning News beat writer Evan Grant says the two sides are "on the verge" of an agreement. Obviously no details will be released until it becomes official but it's likely McCann will get nine figures in the deal.

10/16/2013 11:30:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Andrew Marchand is hearing that Brian McCann could get a six-year, $100 million deal in free agency.
Insight: That could be out of the Braves' price range. McCann didn't have a great season (.256, 20 HR, 57 RBI in 102 games) but the 2014 free agent class is one of the weakest we've seen in a long time. Expect someone to overpay for McCann later this offseason.

10/7/2013 11:20:00 AM
Description: Atlanta catcher Brian McCann is a career .345 hitter with eight home runs in 58 at-bats against Dodgers right-hander Ricky Nolasco.
Insight: McCann (.256, 20 HR, 57 RBI) and Nolasco faced each other often when they both played in the NL East. Expect Nolasco to avoid pitching McCann in any stressful situation.

Description: Atlanta catcher Brian McCann could play Sunday in the regular season finale. SOURCE: Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Insight: McCann (.256, 20 HR, 57 RBI) strained an adductor muscle in his groin on Thursday night and hasn't played since. Even if he doesn't play Sunday, McCann should be ready to go for Game 1 of the NLDS.

9/27/2013 9:35:00 AM
Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann exited Thursday's game with a strained adductor muscle and is doubtful for Friday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: McCann (.256, 20 HR, 57 RBI in 102 games) is likely to sit until the playoffs, so plan accordingly.

Cold8/21/2013 10:36:00 AM
Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann is just 1-for-12 (.083) with five strikeouts against Mets right-hander Jonathan Niese.
Insight: McCann (.272, 18 HR, 47 RBI) is producing at his lowest level of the season, batting .226 with a .670 OPS in 13 August games. This unfavorable matchup won't help.

8/18/2013 12:51:00 PM
Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann will be on the bench for Sunday's series finale against Washington.
Insight: McCann (.272, 18 HR, 47 RBI) caught all 15 innings last night so it's understandable why he's not in the lineup today. Gerald Laird will take his place behind the plate.

8/12/2013 9:27:00 PM
Description: Atlanta catcher Brian McCann was back in the lineup Monday against the Phillies.
Insight: He missed the Braves' last two games because of a knee injury. McCann's .522 slugging percentage leads all big league catchers.

Description: Braves catcher Brian McCann is not in Sunday's lineup due to lingering knee soreness and is questionable for Monday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: McCann didn't start Saturday either. The knee issue isn't serious, but the team wants to make sure he doesn't aggravate it.
