Two concussions sideline Central Arkansas QB
Conway, AR (Sports Network) - Central Arkansas football may be facing an extended period of time without starting quarterback Nathan Dick after he suffered concussions in back-to-back games.
The 6-foot-4 senior, in his third season since transferring to UCA from Arkansas, is ruled out of Saturday's game at Arkansas State. UCA's medical staff was hoping to determine his future status after an MRI on Tuesday, according to the Log Cabin Democrat.
Dick suffered concussions in losses to Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston State. He was named The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS National Offensive Player of the Week for the Louisiana Tech loss on Sept. 10, when he threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns against the FBS opponent.
He has completed 66 of 105 attempts for seven touchdowns and two interceptions, while leading the Southland Conference and ranking 18th in the FCS in passing yards per game (259).
Sophomore Wynrick Smothers is scheduled to start at quarterback against Arkansas State. UCA has a 1-2 record.
