NCAA Game Summary - FIU at Texas-El Paso

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nathan Jeffery scored two touchdowns and rushed for 130 yards to lead the Texas-El Paso Miners to a 33-10 victory over the FIU Panthers in a Conference USA matchup at the Sun Bowl.
Blaire Sullivan rushed for 104 yards and Autrey Golden tallied 56 yards and a score on eight carries as well for UTEP (2-9, 1-5 C-USA). Mack Leftwich threw for only 80 yards and a touchdown on 3-of-7 passing.
Lamarq Caldwell rushed for 95 yards on 20 carries and also threw a touchdown pass for FIU (1-9, 1-5). E.J. Hilliard threw for 53 yards on 5-of-14 passing and Jake Medlock also got a turn under center, finishing with just 36 yards on 3-of-7 passing.
The Miners got out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter with a four-yard touchdown run from Golden and a 34-yard field goal from Jay Mattox.
Caldwell threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Lowder before the period ended to get the Panthers on the scoreboard.
Jeffery scored on a one-yard touchdown run just before halftime to give the Miners a 17-7 edge heading into intermission.
The Miners recorded a safety midway through the third quarter to further increase their advantage.
Jordan Leslie scored on a 64-yard touchdown pass from Leftwich later on in the period as the Miners continued to pull away.
The Panthers would not be shut out in the half as Austin Taylor connected on a 31-yard field goal.
Jeffery scored his second touchdown of the game midway through the fourth quarter, this time from 54 yards out, to hammer home the victory for the Miners.
UTEP rushed for 327 yards while holding the Panthers to just 200 yards of total offense.
