NCAA Game Summary - Tennessee State at Austin Peay

Clarksville, TN (Sports Network) - Patrick Miller scored 25 points for the Tennessee State Tigers as they collected an 88-82 overtime win over the Governors of Austin Peay in a Ohio Valley Conference clash at the Dunn Center.
Miller also dished out a game-high seven assists with four steals for the Tigers (14-10, 8-3 OVC), who have won two in a row after a three-game slump. Jordan Cyphers chimed in with 19 points, M.J. Rhett added 18 points, and Robert Covington added 10 points in his second game back after missing 10 contests due to injury. Kellen Thornton led TSU in rebounding with 11 boards.
Austin Peay (5-19, 1-9) suffered its seventh loss in a row in its second consecutive overtime affair. For the Governors, Jerome Clyburn scored 28 points to lead all scorers. Will Triggs had double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Anthony Campbell supplied 15 points and eight boards. Triggs also contributed five assists and four steals.
The first half came to an end with both teams tied 36-36 after TSU shot 42.9 percent from the field and APSU made 38.2 percent of its shots from the floor.
Although both teams heated up to hit on over 46 percent of their field goal tries after the break, the scoring slowed down as the two sides both tallied 31 points in the second stanza. In the final seconds of regulation, Cyphers launched a 3-point attempt searching for the win but when the shot fell short, Thornton tipped it in to tie the game and force an extra session.
In overtime, the Tigers hit 6-of-7 attempts from the field and made 8-of-9 attempts from the free-throw line to coast to the win.
TSU did a good job of pushing the ball, scoring 16 points on fast break opportunities. The Governors failed to take advantage of their chances at the free-throw line, shooting 17-of-27 compared to 22-of-26 for the Tigers.
