Riverside, CA (Sports Network) - Allen Huddleston scored a game-high 17 points as the Fresno State Bulldogs took down the UC Riverside Highlanders, 39-30, in a very low-scoring affair at SRC Arena.
Kevin Foster contributed seven points and six rebounds for Fresno State (1-1), which had not won a game when scoring under 40 points since 1982.
Chris Patton nearly contributed a double-double for UC Riverside (0-3) with 12 points and nine rebounds. Patton was responsible for six of the Highlanders' 18 turnovers. The loss was the third in as many games for UC Riverside this season.
Both sides combined to go 8-of-39 from the field in the opening period, The Bulldogs took a narrow 13-11 lead into halftime despite making just 1-of-4 from beyond the arc in the first half.
Fresno State made 35 percent of its field goals after the break and limited the Highlanders to 19-second half points to secure the victory. The Bulldogs led for the final 9:34 of the contest.
Despite the loss, UC Riverside held a 41-30 advantage in the rebounding battle.
