Uncasville, CT (Sports Network) - Abdul Gaddy paced five Huskies in double figures with 16 points as Washington defeated the Seton Hall Pirates, 84-73 in overtime, in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Scott Suggs scored 15 points for Washington (2-1), and Desmond Simmons tallied a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Aziz N'Diaye also scored 14 points, while C.J. Wilcox netted 11. The Huskies will play No. 4 Ohio State on Sunday.
For Seton Hall (2-1), Fuquan Edwin led all scorers with 27 points while also adding eight boards, three assists, and three steals. Aaron Cosby added 10 points for the Pirates, who will play Rhode Island on Sunday.
Washington took a comfortable 49-33 lead after one half after shooting a lofty 61.3 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
Seton Hall came all the way back to tie the game a 56-56 on a Kyle Smith three-pointer with 9:25 to play in regulation. It was a back-and-forth game down the stretch, and N'Diaye stepped to the foul line with 57 seconds left with a chance to put the Huskies up, but he hit 1-of-2 free throws to tie the game at 57-57. Both teams came up empty-handed on their final possessions and the game went to overtime.
Washington dominated the extra session, making 4-of-5 from the field and 8- of-9 from the line, to come away with the win.
Seton Hall lost despite shooting 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from three-point range.
