Eugene, OR (Sports Network) - Michael Tveidt scored 18 points to lead the North Dakota State Bison to a 68-60 victory over the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in the second day of the Basketball Travelers Invitational in Eugene.
Taylor Braun added 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists for North Dakota State (1-1), while Eric Carlson tallied 11 points.
Orlando Johnson poured in 30 points for UCSB (1-1), while James Nunnally chipped in 11 points off the bench in the loss.
The Bison went into the break with a 37-24 lead after shooting a sizzling 59.1 percent from the field in the first half that included an equally impressive 7-of-8 clip from long range.
In the second stanza North Dakota State used more of a defensive approach, holding UCSB to just 34.2 percent shooting from the floor, en route to the eight-point win.
The Bison finished 16-of-29 from the foul line, while the Gauchos netted just 7-of-8 free throw attempts.
