Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jaye Crockett posted a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds as the Texas Tech Red Raiders captured a 76-64 win over the Houston Cougars in the consolation round of the Legends Classic at Barclays Center.
Also scoring 16 points for the Red Raiders (5-2) was Toddrick Gotcher, while Robert Turner and Jordan Tolbert contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively.
The Cougars (5-2) were paced by TaShawn Thomas who dropped in 18 points on 8- of-16 shooting from the floor, followed by L.J. Rose with 11 points, although the latter shot only 3-of-12 from the floor.
Houston fell behind immediately and never recovered, shooting only 37.5 percent from the field as the Red Raiders grabbed a 46-31 lead at the break. Texas Tech knocked down 58.1 percent from the floor in the period.
In the second half the Cougars dropped to just 33.3 percent accuracy from the field and 4-of-14 (.286) on the perimeter, en route to the double-digit setback.
In addition to outscoring Houston at the free-throw line (18-9), Texas Tech also held a 46-26 advantage on the glass.
