Fargo, ND (SportsNetwork.com) - Taylor Braun scored 20 points, one of five Bison to score in double-figures, as North Dakota State downed the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks, 91-69, in a Summit League matchup at Bison Sports Arena.
For the Bison (13-5, 2-1 Summit), Lawrence Alexander added 14 points, Mike Felt finished with 13 points and Marshall Bjorklund scored 11. TrayVonn Wright and Kory Brown each chipped in with 10 points.
Justin Simmons led all scorers with 21 points for the Mavericks (10-7, 0-2), while C.J. Carter finished with 16 points and Devin Patterson had 11.
North Dakota State shot well to start the game, connecting on 53.3 percent of its field goal tries, including 5-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half. The Bison jumped out to an early 20-7 lead and went into halftime leading 41-31. Omaha shot just 37.5 percent from the floor in the half but did hit on 5-of-11 tries from beyond the arc.
In the second half, the Bison continued their strong shooting performance, making 55.2 percent of their shots from the floor. The Mavericks improved to 42.9 percent shooting, including 4-of-10 from 3-point distance. The Bison opened the second half on an 8-1 run and never let the Mavericks get closer than 15 points the rest of the way, as they coasted to victory.
The Bison dominated in the frontcourt, outscoring the Mavericks, 42-24, in the paint and outrebounding them, 38-30.
