Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cedrick Lindsay scored 18 points as the Richmond Spiders defeated the Northeastern Huskies, 70-66, in non-conference action at Matthews Arena.
Kendall Anthony added 15 points and led the team with three assists, and Derrick Williams scored 12 on 5-of-6 shooting for Richmond (10-4). The Spiders have won two straight games and seven of their last nine.
Scott Eatherton registered a game-high 22 points for the Huskies (3-10) and grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double. He was also 10-of-11 at the free-throw line. Demetrius Pollard was the only other Northeastern player in double figures, scoring 19 on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. The Huskies have lost two in a row and eight of their last nine outings.
Richmond shot a season-high 55.1 percent from the field and hit 9-of-16 3- point attempts in the contest. The Spiders jumped out to a 40-28 lead at the half after shooting nearly 58 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes.
Northeastern came back to tie the score late in the second half, 64-64, but Lindsay hit two late-game field goals to keep the Spiders ahead. Northeastern shot 52.4 percent in the second half.
The Huskies outrebounded Richmond, 31-26, but failed to capitalize on the fact that the Spiders shot just 46.7 percent (7-of-15) at the charity stripe.
