Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Liabo scored 16 points off the bench, leading six players in double figures, as the Skyhawks of Tennessee- Martin posted an 89-73 win over the Samford Bulldogs in non-conference play at the Pete Hanna Center.
Myles Taylor and Terence Smith both delivered 13 points for the Skyhawks (3-8) as they won for the second time in the last three outings. Bobby Jones tacked on 11 points, followed by Marshun Newell and Dee Oldham with 10 points apiece.
The Bulldogs (3-7) had a two-game win streak snapped even as Tim Williams tallied a game-high 20 points. Raijon Kelly posted 12 points and both Russell Wilson and Isaiah Williams 11 points apiece, the latter also handing out seven assists.
UTM scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting 58.6 percent from the floor in the first half in order to take a 43-32 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Skyhawks connected on all three attempts behind the 3- point line and also made good on a sizzling 62.5 percent from the field, en route to the double-digit victory.
Samford, which turned the ball over 14 times in the meeting, allowing the visitors to knock down 7-of-11 shots on the perimeter.
