NCAA Game Summary - Canisius at Rutgers

Piscataway, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Jerome Seagears scored 15 points and handed out nine assists to lead the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to a 66-51 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins in a NIT Season Tip-Off Matchup at the RAC.
Kadeem Jack had a double-double for Rutgers (3-1) with 13 points and 11 boards. Wally Judge also posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while D'Von Campbell added 10 points off the bench.
Billy Baron had a game-high 17 points for Canisius (1-2), but none of his teammates managed to score in double-figures. Chris Perez led the Golden Griffins with six rebounds.
The Golden Griffins shots 47.8 percent from the field including 3-of-8 from 3- point range to take a narrow, 28-26, lead into the break. Rutgers struggled and shot 32.3 from the floor and made just 4-of-13 from beyond the arc.
Canisius came out of the break ice cold. The visitors shot a dismal 24.3 percent from the field. Although Rutgers struggled from the perimeter in the second stanza with just two makes on 13 attempts from behind the 3-point line, it hit on 40.6 of its shots from the floor overall and converted 10-of-14 tries at the free-throw line to take control of the contest. Rutgers took the lead for good with 16:17 left in the second half and would see its lead swell to as large as 16 points.
The Scarlet Knights outrebounded the Golden Griffins, 50-37, with 18 of their boards coming on the offensive end.
Rutgers will face Drexel in the next round of the NIT Season Tip-Off. Canisius will try to bounce back on Friday when it squares off with the Elon Phoenix.
