Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Sterling Gibbs scored 20 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Seton Hall Pirates held on to defeat the Kent State Golden Flashes, 78-76, as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at the Prudential Center.

The Golden Flashes (2-1) were paced by Kris Brewer who dropped in a game-high 28 points, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 behind the 3-point line and 6-of-6 at the charity stripe. Khaliq Spicer added 10 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots off the bench.

KSU led by three early on in the first half, but the team ended up shooting only 37.9 percent from the floor and 2-of-8 on the perimeter, en route to a 42-33 deficit at the break.

In the second half Kent State made things interesting by hitting on 57.1 percent from the field and 6-of-13 on the outside, but in the end Seton Hall simply would not surrender.
