NCAA Game Summary - Texas-El Paso at Tulsa

Tulsa, OK (Sports Network) - Kauri Black scored 11 points as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane held on for a 45-42 victory over the Texas-El Paso Miners in a low- scoring Conference USA affair at the Reynolds Center.
James Woodard added 10 points for Tulsa (11-7, 3-1 C-USA) which has won four of its last five.
UTEP was paced by John Bohannon who scored 11 points and was a rebound shy of a double-double. The Miners three-game winning streak came to an end in the loss.
Tulsa led 21-20 at the break after hitting 42.9 percent of its shots from the floor. Despite shooting just 30.8 percent in the first 20 minutes UTEP remained right on the Golden Hurricane's heels by holding a 9-3 edge from 3-point range.
Both teams shot below 40 percent in the second half. A Julian Washburn dunk with 32 seconds brought the Miners to within two points. Zeldric King then hit a layup and after being fouled, the ensuing free throw to give Tulsa a 45-40 edge. The Miners elected to go for a quick bucket and got a layup from Bohannon with nine seconds remaining to pull within three. On the inbounds play King had the ball stolen by McKenzie Moore who got it to Konner Tucker but his 3-point attempt fell short at the buzzer.
Tulsa managed a slim 35-33 edge on the boards while outscoring UTEP 20-16 on points in the paint.
