Pangos' hot shooting helps No. 11 Gonzaga beat Arkansas
Maui, HI (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Pangos poured in 34 points, missing just one of his eight 3-point attempts, and No. 11 Gonzaga beat Arkansas 91-81 on Wednesday in the Maui Invitational's fifth-place game.
Pangos hit consecutive 3s and Sam Dower Jr. followed with a 3 for a quick 9-0 run that gave Gonzaga a 75-57 lead with six-plus minutes left.
The Bulldogs (6-1) led comfortably the rest of the way to post a 2-1 record in Maui with a loss to Dayton on Monday and a victory over Chaminade on Tuesday.
Dower finished with 19 points and Gary Bell Jr. scored 13.
Bobby Portis had 18 points to lead Arkansas (4-2), Alandise Harris scored 17 and Michael Qualls added 13. The Razorbacks lost two of three in Maui, falling to California on Monday and topping Minnesota on Tuesday.
