Greenville, SC (Sports Network) - Led by a game-high 29 points from Trevis Simpson, the UNC Greensboro Spartans blew out the Furman Paladins, 88-65, in a Southern Conference tilt at Timmons Arena.
Kayel Locke, Derrell Armstrong, and Nicholas Paulos each added 11 points for the Spartans (7-15, 5-6 SoCon).
For the Paladins (6-15, 3-7), Larry Wideman finished with 18 points, while Stephen Croone added 13 points and Colin Reddick chipped in with 12 points.
UNCG was red-hot to start the contest, connecting on 60.6 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, including 8-of-12 from beyond the 3-point arc, as it took a commanding 48-26 lead at the break. Furman was held to just 35.7 percent shooting and missed all but one of its nine 3-point tries in the first half.
After intermission, the Spartans continued to drain shots, hitting on 59.3 percent from the field as they cruised to the victory.
The Spartans dominated the glass, outrebounding the Paladins, 42-29.
