GAME NOTES: After having a three-game winning streak broken, the Chattanooga Mocs will try to get back on track when they visit the Samford Bulldogs in a Southern Conference matchup on Saturday night.

The Mocs suffered a 74-58 defeat at Georgia Tech on Wednesday. Farad Cobb and Z. Mason each netted 14 points, while Drazen Zlovaric put up 10 points and six boards. UTC, which is playing the second leg of a four-game road trip, has a pair of freshmen in the starting lineup in Gee McGee (9.9 ppg) and Cobb (5.8 ppg).

Mason (13.4 ppg) leads the team in scoring and rebounding (7.2 rpg), while Ronrico White (9.6 ppg) and Drazen Zlovaric (9.1 ppg) are also in the starting lineup for a team that averages 66.7 points a game and is shooting only 26.5 percent from 3-point range. The Mocs, though lead the SoCon in rebounding margin at plus-5.3 and are shooting 56.5 percent from inside the arc.

The Bulldogs will try to rebound from an 87-51 blowout loss at Wisconsin one week ago. Sophomore guard Raijon Kelly had a game-high 16 points. Connor Miller and Tim Williams also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively for the Bulldogs, who have lost four of their last five games.

Williams leads Samford in averaging 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Kelly contributes 14.0 points and 3.6 assists per contest for a team that is averaging only 58.8 points per game and is shooting 41.6 percent from the floor. That includes a 33.2 percent clip from 3-point range, and just 63.7 percent from the charity stripe.

The Mocs hold a 6-3 mark over the Bulldogs since Samford joined the Southern Conference. The most recent meeting produced an 86-78 win for the Mocs on Feb. 25, 2012.

Both of these teams struggle at the offensive end, especially shooting from long distance. Expect a low-scoring contest that could come down to the wire. Williams and Kelly are both ranked in the top-12 in scoring in the SoCon. For the Mocs to stop both of them will be a tall task.
